Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born the 8th of July, 1989 in Paris. The couple relocated to Oxfordshire at the age of five and enrolled in the Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma was aware she was going to become an actress and for many years she studied at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theater school, where she learned the art of acting and dancing. From the age of 10, she took part and played the leading role in numerous Stagecoach Productions and School Plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was first cast in 1999. Emma was discovered by agent through her Oxford teacher. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after they all had 8 consecutive auditions. The film's release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen appearance. It was the highest-grossing film of 2001, the film set records for its debut day sales as well as opening weekend takings. The film was praised by critics, as were the performances of its three stars. The widely distributed British newspaper The Daily Telegraph called her performance as admirable. Emma was awarded five nominations for her outstanding performance. Then, she was awarded the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress in the Film.
